Before you color your images do a little cleanup on the line art.
For example, just a simple gaussian blur + levels will both smooth and sharpen the lines up.

OMG, that helped so much. I'm a bit rough handed, even when I use this makeshift lightboard using a paper lantern lamp and a glass pane from a picture frame.
And I'm still cranking out more pics!!!
edit: prolly should've added some "slish slosh" snd fx.
