What I like (and hate at times) is that as you go on, the story switches focus to follow different characters if they split up, which means you get control over different people as the leader. It makes you realise that just because you are in control, you don't have to be the one dealing damage, as I still use Sazh (Disco Barret) as a Synergist more often in combat before switching him to a fighting role. But thank god that didn't last long. He annoys me.
