Going to disagree on the grounds that it takes up more server space than it needs to when it's oversized. Having a picture shrunk down to a smaller size doesn't mean it's going to be stretched out or blurred when viewed later. Smaller than the size it is.. doesn't mean thumbnail size and having you blow that up to a viewable level. There's a healthy middle ground that's perfectly acceptable to 99.99% of the internet.
