Thanks for mentioning this. I actually haven?t read his essay for a while, but I remember my reaction being negative. He?s basically making fun of GTS aficionados, but not (I felt) in a nice way. His attitude seemed to be ?get over it already? and ?grow up.?
I found his negative attitude surprising, because of course Sedaris is gay and probably wouldn?t appreciate it if a straight guy told him to ?get over it? and stop thinking about guys.
Unfortunately it?s one of the few mainstream essays that even mention GTS, and all it does is create a negative stereotype.
