Though I doubt it's the same person, saw a TV special on a girl who was signing in to get signed in as Tallest Woman in the World in the Guiness Book of Records.
She was going to use the money she won to help pay for her surgery.
A tumor in her brain caused a gland to continuously send hormones that helped in her growth. Left unchecked, she would've grown to death. Literally.
