I was surprised to see the makeout scene in the first place, so I'm not shocked it was removed.

I half-expected that after the latest strip. It didn't seriously cross into porn territory, but it was incredibly hot. Eerie Cuties has never gone out of its way to be kid safe, nor is it the sort of comic you have to pass a mature readers screen to get at. I think it could continue unabridged with whatever the creators want to put in, but it can be tough to stay in the middleground.

In some circumstances, AP-based stuff bugs me, and this is at least a borderline case. Had it been presented differently, I could easily see Nina's part in this, not to mention that of the other characters, being squicky. AP + Bimbo is guaranteed to rub many people the wrong way.

However, the biggest difference between this strip and earlier ones with BE and other fan service that hasn't been edited, is Nina's emotional immaturity. All of the students are underage. According to the cast page, Nina, Brooke, Chloe and Ace are all 14. Nina acts younger, so we perceive her that way. She's more innocent. So, here her innocence melts away for a moment.

I don't have a problem with teenagers making out, especially in fiction. Teens do that and more. If there's a line you shouldn't cross, Eerie Cuties hasn't gone close. Any story set in high school is going to involve kids kissing, and that's really all this is. I can see why it offends some people, but I can't see cause to censor it.

Edit: Also, I wonder how this'll affect continuity. There'll be fallout for Blair regardless, but Brooke would've been more upset (understandably) if the original version occurred. Or, maybe, this not being the first time Brooke/Nina's been teased... something could develop? Eh, probably not.
