Yeah, everybody doodles. I have as far as I can remember, mostly sci-fi stuff tho, Transformers, cyborgs (stuff that doesn't draw too much attention during class, I mean).
I've been posting anime-ish drawings rather recently too, and I'm just as inexperieced. So if you get anything usefull, let me know.
Personally, I wouldn't buy the books. All you really need is an understanding of the skeletal framework of what you are drawing, from there its just mimickry of stuff you appreciate and like.
If you like big boobs (and I KNOW we all here do) then just learn to mimick the stuff you like.
Part of that learnin' curve.

Also, a lightboard REALLY helps with making a final drawing after you draw a rough with pencil and figured out what you like. Here's my amateur lightboard.
