I've been drawing religiously since I had my first thought. I always wanted to be an artist. I was never talented, I still have no talents.... but it's practice that brings skill to your hands. Whenever I was upset because I saw artwork so much better than my own, and by people much younger... I swallowed hard and realized that if I give up now, all that practice will have gone to waste. I've never given up and never will... and now I've surpassed many who said I'd never amount to anything. Soon I'll be a professional, and I already have a large artwork resume. I try to spend about 4 hours a day (actually night) working on my artwork. Growing up, I brought a sketchbook or blank paper everywhere I went... even the movie theaters. (stupid huh?)
Draw, draw draw... and never feel ashamed of tracing to start, but quickly realize you must abandon tracing and draw without the training wheels.
