If that's all the troubles you've got Hawkie, then you're quite lucky.
It happened again after AVAST tried to block some freeware I've used before without issue. And after Windows did another automatic update.
I have now restored again, turned off automatic update, uninstalled AVAST. Reinstalled Avira and I'm doing a full scan.
BTW: This is a Compaq PC I bought from Staples. All above board.
