Awesome and right you are! Energy draining was the prime focus of nearly everything in the first 2 arks(Dark Kingdom and Doom Tree). So turning Mercury into a cocooned battery was a excellent idea =) The reason for the energy draining is to revive Queen Metallia, the true leader of the Dark Kingdom. I could ramble on for several more paragraphs, but I think that gets the point through.
I'll try to get to captioning soon, just need to finish up the guide/help doc for the group, which I'll take another stab at tonight.
