Yes, I'd say you've got a good TG plot a-brewin', and having the main transformation occur around the middle of the story gives you some time left for character growth. Or non-growth, as the case may be - what I'm saying is, too many TG stories end almost immediately after the transformation, and it's nice to explore the ramifications once in a while.
