See, now, wolf, that's where some people disagree with you. Back in high school and college, I got asked many a time to proofread a friend's assignment, simply because I was pretty good about grammatical rules while my friends...well, not so much. I would read over it and correct any mistakes, but not actually change any of the content at all. There is an enormous difference between correcting misspellings/fixing bad grammar and actually CHANGING what the content of the message is.
Never would I dream of being so arrogant as to say, "Well, let me rearrange your artwork and rewrite the entire story so it works better." Nor should anyone else. You're the artist and the writer; the images and story should be what you created. But that's screwing around with your work, which is NOT the same thing as proofreading it.
