Actually I have realized that patching this game isn't gonna change much more then sprites so I tested my theory and it proved true (have had a old version save for a while loaded just fine in the newest version). they are not changing the core code so patching will not make your old saves obsolete it just changes the sprites of the touhou. (will work so long as the .sav file is the same name as the game file as far as I can tell)
