Re: Would you throw away your life, to live another?

I usually have a story or two that I think about to distract me as I go through the more boring motions (I think most people do think about something other than what their hands/bodies are doing, an Auto-Pilot setting). Generally, starting in on one of my thought-stories tends to be a good way to get me to sleep at night. One of my recent favorites is something along the line of the old Sliders (before it became sux). Generally, I start off in one world, and when I lived to whatever I felt was that life's/Earth's full potental, I simply slipped into another dimention/possiblity. An infinity of Earths, any form I wanted on that Earth, to explore and learn, whatever. Drag through whoever, change them into whatever. Be Evil in one dimension for certain circumstances, Good the next. Learn SuperScience, fiddle with Magic, learn how to use Chakra, whatever I feel like I'm into at the moment.

In a situation like that, yea, I'd love it. I'd have no problem giving this life up.

Heh, the problem with my thought-stories is that I tend to overpower my "hero" after a while. One of my old books (from 1950 or so) postulated that to become All-Knowing God would be to become infinitely bored, as that being would know what would happen, every second of every day, of every possible outcome, ect.ect. The solution for the main charactor in that book was simply to live as close to a "mortal" as he could, and not become omniscient, but still retaining his Godlike power. So, I tend to do the same.
