Lexine is a perplexing character because life broke her. No matter how smart you get, emotions may break you. Lexine's obsession with Charlie stems from the fact she became the first way, to her, to escape her own humanity and justify her new persona born of hatred towards her fellow man; because of what happened to her father.
The rest is her reveling in the power she's acquired. Not only is she a 9ft tall amazon, she's got the proportional strength of an arachnid, so that's something that can go to your head pretty quick.
