Always has been subs for me. When I was first watching anime series back in the early 90's (a lot of which was dubbed in the eighties or earlier) most of the dubbing was pretty horrific.

By the time I got to watch reasonably dubbed work, I'd grown used to the subtitles I almost don't notice anymore...(Likewise when watching Chinese cinema.)

Given the choice, I'll watch them subtitled every time. (This is not to say there are not some well done dubbed versions out there, because there are)
