Come to think of it, Abe, Munch, or The Stranger from the Oddworld games could be possible candidates (most likely Abe).
Nintendo managed to rope Solid Snake into Brawl because Metal Gear and Metal Gear: Solid Snake were originally for the NES, so why not use characters that started in PC or Xbox games but later became multiple-platform franchises? Technically that could qualify a few other better-known characters to the brawling-game.
