Alright, I've got one. Been driving me mental for awhile.
Scientist starts absorbing radiation. Has to wear a rubber shirt (?) and seals herself away in a barn while calling for help. Before they can put her in a spacecraft to get her offworld, she is already absorbing solar radiation at nighttime. Soon she has two moons attached to her chest.
An old text story, probably ten years ago or so, give or take.
