Re: Movie Talk: The Philadelphia Experiment (1984)

OOO it is never fair, trying to compare a series of books to any movies or television shows that are made from them. Just look at what became of Hunger Games (loved the books, liked the movie). They left out so much that if you did not read the book(s), you wound up kind of lost.

I will confess that my main gripe with Rise was that the Planet of the Apes franchise was a snapshot of a moment in time. The story line was far fetched, to say the least. Decidedly overacted. But, fun as all Hell, all the same.

One factor was, IMHO, how the franchise ceased to take itself too seriously after the 2nd movie, Beneath the Planet of the Apes. After all, Dr. Milo repairs a state of the art space ship (Taylor's) with what amounts to coconuts and twine AND devises how to launch it, with passengers, just before the Earth is blown up by a properly pissed Col. Taylor... I just... lol. And yet, I love the 5 classic movies, the T.V. series and all! *facepalm*

For me, Rise simply lost the whimsy of the originals.
