Yeah unless there was a specific code of conduct then there should be no grounds for that. Flying Spaghetti monster and severed goats heads by the nativity scene on the public square freedom of expression. There are personal reasons and professional. If one is in an art field and has a really recognizable style it can make sense to draw a line. Supposing you get on as children's book illustrator or represent a bigger company and brand.
The other part is as mentioned people often have phase they grow out of and move to others. If I had other people to care for I certainly would not be dead heading on the Internet like I do. I have shreaded and burned many old drawings simple because I found them stupid or was embarrassed by having made it...also did not want to learn physical evidence.
I will say that TF stuff does not naturally float to the top of the Internet unless you are actually looking for it.
