If it said something about it being down and requiring you to log in, then you simply need to register (or log in :P) to do anything on the site. Annoying, I know, but at least it's one, simple hoop to jump through.
As to
the dictaphone, it's quite possibly the best ongoing interactive, at this moment. I'm amazed by how much the author, has contributed to it. Unlike most interactives on the site that sort of stop growing and get buried. Another reason I like it so is that it's a reality altering type of story, and those are always fun, in my opinion.
