Re: Feeling blergh

Some of the calcium is rendered virtually inaccessible due to pasturization, and some people will never get enough calcium strictly from milk, but I've never seen any good studies proving the whole calcium lost to lactose buffering deal. Studies, yes. Ones I'd spend time defending, no.
But what the fuck do I know? I just write porn.
That's communication.
Due to common usage, I'm pretty sure that a medical student is expected to be a person studying to be a doctor of medicine much as an engineering student is expected to one day be an engineer. What you are saying may be 100% valid, but is very likely to be conveying the wrong message. A communications failure.
Either A) choose different term, or
B) define your usage of the term before or shortly after using the term.

But still watch out. Doctors are particularly prickly about the naming because of the amount of time being spent fighting off quackery. Because doctor is not an owned and regulated term like engineer, they have to contend with all manner of doctor of batshit. Engineers just share the term with folks running trains. Not much potential for harm there because the train dudes aren't building bridges and buildings, but trust me the engineering associations stomp out folks who do give it a try with hobnailed boots. Unfortunately there is this common and particularly offensive breed of assholes who say they can do stuff like cure cancer with crystals and just love to be called doctor. Case in point.
