Next part! Some naturally resulting chaos ensuing from her unexpected growth. Now the real fun of the story starts to begin.
“Day 10 – Continued”
She just stood there. Oblivious to all that went on around her except for the crowd below. A short distance from her now VERY large feet, the crowd stood in a mix of awe, fascination, fear, and panic. Her face looked blank, transfixed in a mask of her own fear and panic. It was as if the lights were on but no one was home.
Needless to say it didn’t take long for the smart phones to be whipped out of pockets. Pictures were taken, texts typed, and video clips recorded. Some in the crowd wondered if she was thinking anymore or went brain dead. Then some noticed her hands.
“Is she holding something?” A woman with sunglasses asked.
“I think some one.” A man in a suite and tie said. As a man who prided himself on details he had kept track of everyone who escaped the madness. Only one besides the giant girl was missing. “I think her boyfriend’s up there.”
“Boyfriend?” The woman gasped. “You mean there’s someone in her hands?”
Someone behind him over heard their conversation. It was another woman. “You mean she has a hostage?” She screamed, clearly in full panic mode.
Sadly it didn’t take long for the panic to catch fire. It spread through the crowd swiftly. Soon enough the phones were being pointed at her hands instead of her womanly parts and face. As it was almost dark outside the light show going off from the crowds’ phones was like the Fourth of July…
--------
Kirsten was in a trance like state. At first she thought it was because of disorientation. But that was only part of it. Besides fear, panic, and humiliation, she also felt something else: denial.
This CAN’T be happening to me. She told herself. No, no, no. I am NOT monster. She was finally brought back to reality when she felt something stir in her hands. She had almost forgotten that Greg was trapped in them. Gasping in fear, she opened her hands into a bowl with Greg in the middle of them. He was moving, but slowly. At least he’s alive.
She heard a woman scream. At first she looked up in its general direction until she remembered her current predicament. Giant, right. She chided herself. She forced herself to look down and realized what was happening with the crowd. I have to get out of here! The whole world is going to see me like this. Then she looked down and saw the destruction her growth wrought. God, I’m so sorry. Her feet were almost buried in rubble. The only bit of restaurant left standing were four walls standing and they were threatening to collapse.
The woman screamed once again. As she looked up, the woman pointed at her hands and shrieked. “She has a hostage!”
She shook her head desperately. “Hostage? No, he’s my boyfriend, I’d-”
She didn’t have time to say more. She heard sirens approaching from the distance. Clearly someone had taken the initiative to call the police and fire trucks. Grunting in frustration, she did the only thing she could do.
“I’m so sorry everyone.” She called to them. With that, she stepped over them as carefully as she could, more than aware of the photos being taken between her legs. Taking great care to avoid all people and cars, she fled.
As she ran she did her best to keep her hands level. She thought with every bit of determination her soul and being could muster that Greg would NOT be hurt, so she kept her hands level for him as best she could. At first she was relieved at the ease her hands kept held out, but then she started to worry. Shouldn’t my hands be getting tired by now?
She didn’t have time to fret over it though as she almost yelped at the VERY fast approach of a building. Clearly she had no idea how much her size would increase her speed. Indeed, normally the now former diner they went to was a half hours drive outside from the city limits. It only took mere moments for her to cost the distance. What the hell am I?
The sirens were distant again. The police had to arrive at the diner. Soon enough they would be after her, to whisk her away to some secret lab to never be seen again. She shuddered. Then the sudden thought struck her. Were am I going to hide? She looked down at her boyfriend. Both of our apartments are too big for me, and we have no were else to go, unless…THE CAVE!
Yes, the cave. One of Greg and her many misadventures as children. When they were both young, around the age of ten and eleven, they were on a family camping trip to the wilderness clear on the north side of town.
Both of the respective foster mothers were close friends with each other. After their orphanage had closed down due to shoddy care and maintenance, the two elderly women were more than happy to take some children off their hands. And so, Shelly McDowell took Kirsten and two more girls and taught them how to run her family antique store. While Lisa Derby took in Greg and his foster brother, Michael.
One day while the two families were camping Kirsten and Greg went off fighting the good pretend fight with space pirated. It wasn’t until Greg screamed that she noticed he vanished through a hole in the ground. She ran over to see if he was ok, only to see he was dangling by a vine over a great void. Needless to say she went screaming for help, and the local authorities managed to pull him out.
But as it turned out he had accidentally discovered a system of caves that were said to be long forgotten. As a reward for finding them the children and their families were allowed to be the first public Joes to tour the caves.
Kirsten almost smiled as she remembered the Native American cave paintings on the walls, she had thought they were pretty as a child. She remembered as the experts explained that the reason they weren’t found until now was that the entrances had been blocked by rocks ages ago shortly after the Native Americans were forced to leave.
She was brought back to reality as she remembered why she considered the caves at all. For the most part, besides the cave paintings and local wild life, the caves were empty. All except for a waterfall in the far back of the cave. It was said to have been fed into the system from a nearby river. But not only was the cave mostly empty, but spacious. It just might fit me…
A man screaming behind her snapped her back to the present. Gathering up what was left of her dignity, she mustered all the energy she could for her only chance…
-----
Greg had no idea where he was or the time of day. All he remembered was that crazy dream about his girlfriend growing out of control. Reluctantly wiping out the fatigue from his eyes and readjusting his glasses, he felt around for a firm grip to pull himself up. That’s when it hit him that something was wrong…
He rose into sitting position with a start. Looking to and back he learned he was sitting on rock.
“Easy.” A gentle, yet very loud voice said. “You took quite a bump when you fell.”
That’s when the pain came throbbing in. Growling and rubbing the small bump and the back of his head, he recognized the voice as Kirsten’s. “Thanks for reminding me. It feels like it wants to split open.” He looked around to find her but noticed it was almost completely dark, all except for the light off of the water reflecting off the cave walls.
“At least you only have a headache to deal with, I have a BIT of a bigger problem on my hands…”
“Were are you, anyways?” He snapped. He didn’t mean to but this headache was a particularly nasty one.
“Here.” She said. Then she stepped out of the shadows.
His jaw dropped. In front of him stood a girl who was CLEARLY fifty feet tall, possibly bigger. Not only that but even dressed in a make shift bra and panties out of what was clearly a former party tent.
“What are we going to do now?” She said, her lips quivering. Her eyes looked close to tears.
He forced his mouth shut. Here he was oogling her while she was clearly upset. Right, now’s not the time…
“Ok.” He said, taking a deep breath. “We need to handle this,” he gestured her whole body, “You, as quickly as possible.”
“How?”
“I have some ideas.” He nodded, putting his thought to be big brain to work immediately. “And I already know I’m not going to like some.”
She rose and eyebrow at him. “Like?”
He laughed to lighten the mood. “Well for starters, we’ll start with what we know. Then we’ll go from there.” He sighed. It was going to be a VERY long night. “We have some work to do…”
