Re: Zombeavers
Sorry for the delay here. I would have posted this yesterday, but I watched some other movies at the festival and ended up with a lot of sleep to catch up with >_<.
The movie itself did not disappoint. Despite the first few minutes being filled with crude, fecal-matter level humor, it quickly distances itself from that and becomes genuinely funny. Don't expect any cerebral humor though, it's as silly as can be with lots of corny one liners and over the top situations. You wouldn't believe how smart zombie-beavers can be =P. I would compare it to the movie Black Sheep in a way, with less gore and an added dash of nudity. With the exception of the transformation scene, I honestly enjoyed Zombeavers more out of the two.
Speaking of, let's get to what you're all really interested in hearing about =P. As far as the on-screen transformation process goes, what you see in the trailer is pretty much what you get; with the only missing part being her claws growing from under her nail beds. After that you get to see her "fully changed", which once again is pretty much how you see her in the trailer: slightly-hunched back and glued-on hair on her body. To be perfectly honest the effects are well done even though I would have preferred a less human final form and a more detailed transformation process.
There is, however, one redeemable part. I can confirm that she indeed grows a beaver tail. It was quick, but I think I've noticed a not fully-grown tail behind her right after her transformation. It was only for a few frames and might be wishful thinking on my part I'll admit =P. Later on though, there's a very interesting tail-thumping scene where you get a nice close up of her from behind as she hits the floor repeatedly with her new appendage =).
All in all Zombeavers is a very good movie for fans of the horror/comedy genre, and even though the transformation scene itself isn't detailed much, I'd recommend it to TF fans just for the tail scene, as it's something we rarely see. I'm already looking forward to the DVD release, just to watch it again.
