Well, I originally wrote them to give back to the community and because I didn't find anything quite like what I had in mind. I thought something well-written would be well-received. I was wrong.
After getting very little response, if any, for several years, I got angry. I'd put a lot of work into creating those stories and got nothing back for my efforts. To put it in Thanksgiving Day terms, it would be like inviting your family over for a big meal, but then having no one show up to eat all the food you've prepared.
After I'd removed my old stories, I ran Doc's Lab for a while, archiving other's stories. I was sorely disappointed when even the authors there didn't get any feedback, even when their works were very well-written.
Now-a-days, I just find the stories embarrassing. I'm nearly 40 and I wrote those in my mid-20's. To me, it's like finding something you wrote in grade school, with all the crappy handwriting and atrocious spelling or grammatical mistakes. Not to mention that I'd rather not have such material linked to my real life. It annoys me whenever I find someone asking for them. I'd rather they just be buried and forgotten.
So, yea. I don't envy those artists or authors who create anything online. Whether it's crap or gold, they probably won't get any response or respect.
