Is it because of the story? Do we want to become emotionally invested before the TF happen? That's the only reason I can think for why we keep searching for good TFs in movies.

Honestly, for me, the reason I look for fresh TFs in movies is because, for all the good that Missa does, there are still aspects where the effects fall short. Don't get me wrong, she goes far and away beyond anything else you could hope to get out of an amateur fetish clip site, which is painfully obvious when you compare her work to literally any other site that tries to enter the market. That said, I, personally, am looking for that rare beast of the detailed, elaborate tf scene on a hollywood budget.
I imagine a tf like those in Underworld, Being Human (the UK version), Silver Bullet, Hemlock Grove, the Howling, etc, with female characters getting that much detail. The saddest part is, some of those shows/movies have females who actually do transform, and 99% are in far less detail than the males. Look at the male vs. female tfs in Hemlock grove, or Being Human. Save for one tf scene with Nina, the female tfs are glossed over. That is what I keep waiting for, and it has very little to do with nudity. I don't consider seeing breasts as a requisite for a female tf being good or appealing to me.
I'd take a fleshed out, detailed tf scene that doesn't cut away much, or use camera angles that cut out 90% of what's going on *cough*Bitten*cough*, but never shows a single nipple or whatever, than buying another Missa clip that will have plenty of T&A, but film effects that are well behind Hollywood grade. Now, that may well be a pipe dream, and I'm fairly convinced that it is after seeing so many failures, but it's always worth checking something out to see if this is finally it. Hell, at the very least, any new content is good content, because we're sorely lacking in it anyway.
As far as this kickstarter is concerned, I think it's unfair to project what we assume the project will be just based off of low expectations. Saying "well, it's only gonna end up like this" is based off nothing but being jaded from all the other disappointments we've seen in the past. My issue with it is, as others have said, there is very little detail to go off of. The director would have done well to at least make a video actually talking about everything they're trying to achieve, and describing the mechanisms they are aiming for to achieve this transformation. Instead we get the same shitty teaser trailer that's been on Vimeo for a month or two. Part of me wants to contribute just to have hope for something new coming down the pipe, but I think it'll just be a drop in the bucket in the end.
