I'm not sure how that applies here, showing a picture of a character with no context at all is completely different.I'm not talking about a summery of the series of the character's personal history. just give a name, a 1 or 2 word description of who they are and what show/movie/book they are from.
Like the character Carole from the anime Casshern Sins turned evil." that's all the necessary context in 10 words, if the viewer wants to become more familiar with the source material it's helps if you let them know what the source material IS first. I don't think that offering the bare minimum of a name and source material for context is unreasonable.
I think my point is still as valid as ever, minimal context needs to be offered with transformation art where only the post transformation is shown. And I still contend the solution is easy, just give context.
