It's not quite what you were thinking but what I ultimately decided to do was start a Patreon.
I'd stopped writing (almost permanently) a while back because I'd burned myself out releasing things for free and also because of the asshole that stole and sold one of my stories. I'd been trying to figure out a way to get back into it and keep myself invested and, well, Patreon.
I already have a page up (
https://www.patreon.com/markgraham ) and some patrons. I'm releasing things there first and then eventually releasing them to other places (like here) after a few weeks.
So far it seems like a good way to get paid for what I make and also reward people that help along the way. It's kind of an interesting process and a little fun to come up with ideas to keep patrons invested.
