Thank you thank you thank you so much for telling me about Giantesscity. I was able to find the full episode there. I wish there were subtitles but I knew enough basic Japanese as well as just observing and you pretty much figure out what is going on. I really liked how it played out. A lot of it is assumption though, since I didn't understand all the dialogue and I'm not familiar with this anime.
Classic setup of the main girl and her friend who both get measured, the friend is happy to see she grew a couple centimeters while it seems the main girl hasn't grown at all. Mind you, the girl is an elementary school student, I think either 4th or 5th grade. And some other older girls I think tease the main girl of this story about being short, but mostly she's just short because she's young but she fears she'll never be tall.
Cut to at night in her room where she is fantasizing about hoping she can grow up to be tall and strong and even like a champion pro-wrestler or something (it didn't seem weird when I was watching it but it seems weird now that I'm explaining it), and another little fantasy about an older (and of course) taller version of her and a guy confessing his love to her and they embrace. Cut back to reality, she's praying and praying and praying to be taller. She goes to bed when the monster of this episode decides to use his growing powers on her for some reason I couldn't translate, except likely for the hell of it. You're right, we don't see her grow, we just have a close-up on her face, smiling in her sleep before fading to black.
The next day, we only see the outside of her house but we hear her exclaim in surprise at herself. Then she is at school and everyone is surprised at her. Apparently, she's now as tall as the middle or high schoolers (not sure what the grade is). She's going around flaunting it so proud of herself and goes as far as to pull one of the older boys by the arm and flirt with him, and she is now slightly taller than him. The guy is kind of trying to hold in that he likes it. Later on we see her playing jump rope with her usual friends but she catches her foot on the ropes, as it seems she's having a harder time playing jump rope at her height. One of the main guys (now significantly shorter than her) teases her about something and she gets pissed and puts him in a full nelson or whatever.
I believe the older kids (middle school or high schoolers) control the giant robot in this show. When the monster of this episode attacks, the kids either gear up in the robot and the others are in the (I'm guessing) command station at the school. The main girl goes to the command station and everyone is kind of surprised to see her there, but I think she tries to tell them something to the effect of how she's as big as everyone here, so it should be ok for her to be at the command station and they're ok with it.
Then comes the part where the monster makes everything bigger that he previously had grown, including her. She grows out of the building and, after getting over the panic of becoming huge, ends up successfully fighting the monster, reminiscent of her fantasy of growing up to be a big strong fighter. Afterward, the giant robot does the finishing move and destroys the monster. Everything shrinks back to normal. Then I think she kinda learns her lesson to wait until she gets older to grow but gets teased a little bit anyway at the end.
Final notes - Initially she is 115cm or around 3'9" (she's in elementary school). The monster's first growth seems to cause her to be something more like 5'4", as she is around the same height as the middle/high schoolers. 2 meters is too tall, that's something in the six foot range and she didn't get that tall. And while I don't care for the fact that this happens to a little girl, I do like the idea of a girl who wishes to be taller and then actually grows and then flaunts it (I love mini-GTS). And for that, I really enjoyed this episode.
Thanks again for the help.
