I know saying this will probably get me murdered, but it might have been a cool shake-up in the TMNT universe if Leonardo was killed (to be eventually resurrected later on) around the same time Jennika was mutated into a mutant turtle, so she could assume leadership of the team until Leo returned a couple of years down the line.
