You don't know his reasons, because he has said multiple times on multiple forums that they are private, and he still refuses to elaborate.
The "silly and nonsensical reasons" were just a tongue-in-cheek poke at those readers that accused him of it in the strip's comments, as well as a lead-in to the TG transformation.
