Shantae would be a nice fit for Smash. She's already a platformer character with silly attacks, power ups, magic and such. She could play similar to Pokemon Trainer but instead of switching between Pokemon she just switches forms with Down+B and each form has a few specials. Crab form, elephant form, harpy form, and normal Shantae mode who has the hair attacks for normals and fireball/spikeballs etc for her other specials. Her Final Smash could be calling in her friends for a group attack, or calling in a boss (Giant Mermaid plz?) to crush everyone with one hit.
