Ultimate Spider Man season 4 episode 5 Lizards

I am begrudgingly putting this up because I want to rant about how disappointed I am in this episode more than any thing else so I do understand if this topic gets moved. This episode is mainly male on screen tfs and my angry rant is about the female tfs but I just want to say I will be spoiling the episode plot a bit but I will try my best not to spoil. If anyone wants to watch this episode before reading the rant follow link below.

If you don't want to watch the basic plot is that one of the students infects Curt Conners with a special version of the Lizard formula that causes people to turn into a Lizard if bitten which of course means that all but a handful of the students (5) in the shield base are transformed into Lizards.


Aaaaaannnnddd onto the rant


During one of the Second fight with the Lizards we see Iron Fist get taken out and transformed (no transformation) who immediately takes out White Tiger (also no tf). From that point on when Spiderman and Iron Spider are running away from that group of lizards I did not see any sign of a transformed White Tiger at all in that group. First ARRRGGGHH!!!!

Second time we could of seen at least a female tfed hero was after Agent Venom and Rhino defeated a couple of Lizard Shield agents they are approached by an army of Lizard transformed Squirrels do we see the Lizardfied Squirrel Girl noooooooooooooooooooooooo.
We had a second time to see the Lizard Squirrel Girl when Agent Venom and Rhino are fighting in the prison block because she appears their when everyone turns back. Second ARRRGGGHH!!!!

Now on to the only time there was a chance to see a female tf. Was when Lizard Cloak let some Lizard soldiers into the lab where Spiderman, Iron Spider, Agent Simmons and Agent Fritz are trying to mass produce the cure. Lizards attack Fritz and Simmons so in the next seen we see Fritz turn into a Lizard. As for Simmons she just pops up already transformed behind him. How long do we see the Lizard Simmons the answer three scenes. Do we get a good look at her noooooooooooooooooo. Third ARRRGGGHH!!!!

For the final time we could of seen something is when Spiderman administers a cure through the ventilation system. Who do we see turning back male generic shield agents and immediately after that we see four segments appear on screen one with more generic agents turning back and then one of Dagger, one of Cloak and one of a female shield agent all who have already turned back to normal already (I would argh now but it gets better). The next seen we finally see the Lizard Squirrel Girl who bends down off screen and when she gets back up she is back to normal. Final ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

The entire episode was a real disappointment to me since I have been looking forward to this episode for at least three weeks when I looked on Wikipedia and saw their was an episode called Lizards coming up. When I first saw the I immediately saw the "s" on the end and new what the scenario was going to be. At that time I was fully prepared for the continued disappoint of lacking female tfs in the current marvel cartoons (I think the the Hulk series that Marvel has now cancelled was the only one that had female tf in it) but I was not prepared for that shear amount of dick teases there were throughout the episode. I mean they had Agent Simmons guest star appearance and the episode still gave us squat.

My rage cannot be described with words how disappointed I am apart from ARGH.

Sometimes it seems so intentional that they've avoided onscreen female TFs that they have to be aware of the fetish aspect to some degree. There was a time when the opposite kind of thing happened and female TFs were included when they clearly didn't need to be. I miss those days.

Yep. Its the same thing with the gts fetish. Thanks to the internet any chance of AWIL type werewolf transformation for women is LOOONG gone.

Also, as far as Spiderman goes, be weary of character ages mate. All of these high school kids are pretty much underage, so you can't blame them for being cautious on this one. I would be too.

Also keep time constraints in mind, these episodes are only 20-22 mins long with out commercials.

Age of the characters hasn't stopped them from transforming the male characters, at all. They get onscreen transformations, ripped clothing, etc. There's a clear double standard when it comes to female characters as apparently anything involving a female has to be inherently sexual therefore we can't show any part of it. The knee-jerk reaction on age of fictional characters is a bit much as well. I don't recall anyone getting uppity about the transformation fan art of Sailor Moon characters or any other anime character, stuff that went on at the Process for years. They're not real. Also, not all the characters in the rant were teens, the female agents and scientists were adults and they didn't get any screen time with their TFs like the males did. They almost showed one female revert, but didn't, even though her clothing was still intact and nudity would not have been a factor.

When you put all these things together, it really makes it look like they are aware of the female TF fetish and actively avoid presenting anything that might fall into it. Or at the very least whoever planned the scenes saw the female transformations as being sexy and decided not to show any on screen because it's "not that kind of show". Males transforming into monsters is fine to the person in charge of that aspect of production because that's "cool and cliche and normal" but a woman doing the same might look hot or something, because a woman doing anything is automatically hot and that's why they're just barely even in the show.

If we're assuming it's due to time constraints then we're saying male characters have priority over female characters automatically. Which is just another level of the same problem, just plain ordinary, everyday, sexual inequality.

Fully agree with all of you. And for me, the paradigmatic example about how ridiculous this is becoming, is the movie Brave: we have even naked guys and kids (well, no frontal nudity, but that would be forcing things too much on certain direction ), but when we were having to get Elinor's transformation into bear... we just get an offscreen shitty shadow of it. And the back under a blanket.
I assume that they believe that a naked male is funny and sometimes even comical, serving as comic relief by some sense. But female nudity is another different matter, and we all fully know what it means. But not, it is not that we are being explicitely being trolled by them, it is simply that inside their minds they are much more pervert than us.

While I am tempted to just chalk it up to oversight, it does appear odd. Especially when you consider that many of the people making cartoons now grew up with stuff like Gargoyles or Sailor Moon that did have heavy transformation elements, and not just of males. This leaks over into live action too where you have the US Being Human, a show all about werewolves and other monsters, basically skipping female transformations. Sally gets turned into a werewolf in the last season, and we don't ever see her growing fangs, or even a scream turning into a howl. Hell, they could have played it up as a joke because she comments that Josh's transformation doesn't even seem that bad. There's a pack of wolves that even bring Josh a girl to change, and it gets written around. Oh, and Nora doesn't get another transformation after Season 2 despite being a werewolf for only slightly less time than Josh had.

Can you tell I'm a little frustrated about how that show turned out in terms of transformation? lol

All that said, this is definitely some problem in US production. The amount of transformation and fetish material you get from Totally Spies alone would be enough to last most US shows for the next four decades. Never mind all the stuff that Japan produces, or those live action shows from the Philippines. I wonder how much of that stuff that we used to get would get shown or even made in the same way today. I'm tempted to call this episode of Spiderman the new norm

Possible Disney/Marvel got bad pushback from the Gamma World episodes in A:EMH's? That one went incredibly far for an on screen female TF. Never forgave them for cancelling that series.

It's the internet. We're going to sexualize anything. But I guess it's okay as long as females don't groan, moan, writhe, or one forbid's changing from one thing to another.

I'd be tempted to think they're keeping anything that might be disturbing or giving why-boners to their intended viewer base.
And i don't blame them for dodging stuff like that, given the internet will sexualize EVERYTHING. I mean, we all saw what happened with MLP and how disturbing the fan-made content can be.
