Smash Bros. rules and made up rules
What's your favorite or usual rule do you play in the Smash Bros. series and do you have any made up ones?
My usual is Time Battle because I like to keep on fighting and not disappear for the rest of battle like stock. But I do play it when out voted by other players in the room. I also have a made up rule called Revenge, which what my brothers and I followed since the very first. This type of rule is only meant for Players vs. Computers. You see when a computer kills you and takes your point, you have to go after that same computer and take your point back. But if that same computer kills you before you kill it, that means the number of times you have to kill it goes up (if a computer kills you 3 times then you have to kill it 3 times). You can quit your revenge on the computer when the match ends or continue it by fighting its character in the next match. However, thanks to my little brother you can kill the computer at least once to complete your revenge on it even though it might have killed you like 6 times. Having revenge on other players doesn't really count because revenge never ends between people, so my brothers and I try our best to avoid that. Also, you can avoid having revenge on a computer by committing suicide (killing yourself by falling off a stage going to the edge of it) so the computer won't get your point. Unfortunately on Brawl it seems like whoever hit you last will get your point even if you kill yourself, which is kind of annoying when it turns out to be a computer that gets it. Anyway, the point of this is trying to avoid being killed by computers even at the last minute and at the same time get better at the game. The next made up rule we made was Dodge-Bombing. Whenever we have Sudden-Death and we feel like it, we wait for the bombs to appear and avoid them. The battle is over in the normal way. |

Re: Smash Bros. rules and made up rules
Very simple:
-When you die, drink once -If you accidentally kill yourself, drink twice -When the game's over, the following people take this many drinks: --Fourth place drinks once --Third place drinks twice --Second place drinks thrice --Winner drinks four times Helps even the odds a little bit. -If you get killed in a particularly awesome/humiliating way, you have to take one drink out of the Death Juice (usually, something with a really high alcohol content. We use Devils Springs vodka, which has a proof of 160). If that isn't interesting, I don't know what is. |

I be just playin' without any o' these pointless rules, and have fun.
I be meanin', that's the entire point o' this game, is it not? "To have fun". |

Re: Smash Bros. rules and made up rules
Ehh, this topic thus far makes no interest to me. I would personally prefer to hear peoples ideas for rules for a transformation version of Smash. For example:
GTS/Shrinking Rule - 1st place grows two sizes. 2nd place grows one size. 3rd stays the same. 4th place shrinks 1 size. TF Rule - 1st place remains unchanged, 2nd becomes 5% mammal, 3rd becomes 15% aquatic, and 4th becomes 25% other (reptile, insect, etc) That would be more interesting if people would share those made up rules.

Yeah... I have to agree. The most interesting thing about your post is that it shows your age, or rather your maturity and wisdom. You assign rules that force you to do something that... what? Makes the game more challenging? No. More fun? Not in any way I can see. It's a one-time impulse that you write in stone. Why not do things like that when you feel like it, and when you don't... don't. Revenge gets boring after a while and is restrictive always. If you lose, maybe you deserved to, and you should congratulate your opponent on a battle well fought. Or not. Do what you want.

What, no one else likes turning video games into drinking games? Super Drink Bros. is more fun than even Mario Kart: DUI.

Though the TF and Drinking rules sound pretty interesting, but what about the usual rules that you normally fight under like Time, Stock, or Coin? I asked about those too, it's not exactly just a made-up rules thread, you know. |

Re: Smash Bros. rules and made up rules
Well, we only play Stock because we think Time and Coin are relatively pointless by comparison. And if we're playing and not drinking, we generally don't make up rules. Our general reasoning is that if the game engine lets you do it, it's legal.

Re: Smash Bros. rules and made up rules
I forget where I heard this, but somebody rigged up a "Boss Fight" mode, it went something like:
-Teams are 3 vs. 1 -The three are designated Heroes -Remaining player is the Villain -Stamina Mode -Heroes have 100 health, Villain has 400. -One Life -Scores are invisible so nobody knows who has how much health. I have not tried it yet, but I hear it makes for good times. |
