Happy Inauguration Day!
Well, I know with the economy, environmental problems, illegal wars, and such, it's going to a rough time for a few years, but isn't it great we are finally out of the age of delusional ideology-based thinking? Reality-based thinking ahead! YAY! Having a grasp on reality means that, instead of ignoring warnings and letting tragedies happen so you can try to cash in on them, you could actually solve a few problems and help your country and fellow man.
Ohyeah!

Re: Happy Inauguration Day!
I don't mind that we have a Democrat as president, I just don't like the fact that it's Obama. The majority of people that voted for him based their vote on the fact that he's black. If that were how people were elected into office, why weren't Angelina Jolie or Orlando Bloom on the ballot?

Re: Happy Inauguration Day!
Angelina Jolie and Orlando Bloom weren't on the ballot because they don't have the knowledge or experience to get through a Katie Couric interview. Barrack Obama does. He's proven that over the last two years.
I don't think Obama won the presidency because Americans are stupid voters. I believe a lot of people voted for Obama for the wrong reasons. A lot of people voted for McCain for the wrong reasons too. There will always be stupid people. I believe the majority of votes cast were by people who had measured McCain's versus Obama's political values and ideas though. Obama received more of those informed votes than McCain did. He likely received more of the uninformed votes as well. That isn't his fault though and it doesn't mean he'll be a shit-for-brains president. |

Re: Happy Inauguration Day!
The argument Obama won the presidency because the people who voted for him are easily swayed (by the colour of his skin in particular) is a popular one amongst sore Republicans. I've heard people voted for him because he's good looking, because he fooled them with his beautiful public speaking, because he has a Facebook page, because people want to convince themselves they're not racist, because of the media bias, blah blah blah. I don't buy it. I think Obama warranted this win. He ran a strong, clean campaign. McCain stumbled, particularly near the end, and didn't represent what most American people want to see in the next four years.
I'm happy for the United States today and I'm sad for the Obamas. I fear, after four years of trying to clean up the mess he's inherited, Obama will be blamed for that mess or for not having improved things for the better quickly enough. I hope the American people can be realistic and patient with Obama. He can only do so much in four years. Also, I really don't want to see Sarah Palin near the Oval Office four years from now. Re: Happy Inauguration Day!
That's exactly what I say. It's not Obama's fault black people voted for him because he's black. It's not McCain's fault the KKK supported him either. The people who vote for them don't always reflect the values of the politician. Using flaky arguments and focusing on race had nothing to do with Obama's campaign.

Re: Happy Inauguration Day!
McCain lost the race all by himself. We needed a strong leader, and someone that doesn't try to get his votes out of sympathy. John McCain can act strong all that he wants, but after caving in to the party like he did and changing all of his view points over night I lost most of the respect I had for him. Now don't get me wrong he did a great service to our country, but he sold his soul to get the republican nomination. How much do you think he would have sold ours for?
