Theiving jollyjack

Some people are posting jollyjack's stuff that you have to pay for on here:
Link Removed.
I thought this was the best way to get in contact with him besides deviantart.

Well, that's good to know. I really like the guy's work, so I hate seeing good artists like himself have this sorta thing happen.

Re: Theiving jollyjack

Why is it you posted it here anyways? I mean, yes I get the idea "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM! Pay Jollyjack a fine-...", but your also subjecting it to the all-too-weak will of those who come to this thread and think "NO! Must... pay... like normal... person... RESIST... TEMPTATION!"

And so far, that temptation is many a times too great. Just look at music artists and illegal downloading. Yanno... what everyone does.

You could have just sent him a PM on this forum. Or, you can go to his site's forum, sign up and send a PM to him over there. There are more options.

P.S.: in case you didn't know about his website, it's http://www.collectedcurios.com/index.html

Humble Fool, the guy in charge of that site, also goes here. Really, if anyone puts up pirated shit, don't share it. That's sort of like "Hey, free shit here. Get it while you can before someone inevitably finds and deletes it".

Re: Theiving jollyjack

They really need to allow DRM on things like Adobe files. That way once someone has downloaded it, it couldn't be read on any system other than their own (also means it would remove the ability to split the .PDF into seperate images).

This wouldn't ELIMINATE the pirating, but would severely lessen it.

JJ is one of the few artists I allow myself to purchase from, because let's face it: He does quality work and doesn't over charge for it.. This does not mean I pirate other peoples work, however. So I guess I'm missing out on something, but hey at least my conscience is clean.

Re: Theiving jollyjack

Don't do that again Hindu. There are a fuck ton smarter ways to notify a content producer their work is being shared than to post an offending link on a public forum anyone can read.

Just e-mail the guy, he isn't really that hard to get ahold of.

Another great way to get a hold of JJ is on his DeviantArt account, he is pretty active on there...

DRM is *never* the answer. All it does is piss off and restrict legitimate buyers. And it doesn't stop pirating. For instance, if it didn't let you extract images, there's nothing keeping me from taking a screenshot.

Re: Theiving jollyjack

True true, and nothing prevent you from converting your .jpg screenshots into a .pdf.

There's no real countermeasure. Just a good education. People don't have only rights, they also have duties, they just forget about it.

I hope JJ will find a way to solve that.
