Another Persephone.
Yesterday there was a little girl at my work who was apparently named Persephone. First found out this when her parents were calling for her to come over to her (using both Persephone and Sephie). I was sorta getting confused til I saw the girl. While helping them choose plants I had to keep in mind that when they said her name they were not talking to me. I have not had to deal with a situation where I shared a name with someone before in my life.

IRL, you could probably throw a dart and hit one of me in any room. Given, the "me" you hit would probably be plenty upset that you were throwing darts at him in the first place...

My real name 'Jesse' sounds similar (from a distance) to many names. Whether someone's calling 'Jenny', 'Jeffrey', 'Casey', or pretty much any two-syllable name ending in the '-ē' sound, paired with my bad hearing, gets me confused to who's calling me.

Yeah my legal first name is rare as a last name and rarer still as a first name. Persephone is common compared to it, though people still correct me and say "oh you mean Sophie"

My parents thought they were giving me a none too common name for my generation when I was born. So were many other parents. I graduated high school with eighteen other Rachels.
My kids get somewhat unusual names. |
