Sadly after all that interviewing and auditioning I didn't get the job. They gave it to a candidate that was more "polished and ready to go."

Think we've all been there. Few years back, I was up for a sysop position, only to suddenly stop receiving callbacks with the vague explanation of "it's no longer available." Come to find out, nepotism is alive and well; or, so it's claimed by their former HR manager.

Bottom line: shit like this happens; probably shouldn't, but it does. Keep your chin up and don't let this minor setback get you down. You will do something great.

It's quite possible that they found a better on-air person. That wasn't really my big thing anyway, I'm a media producer.

I'll do my best, I've got a few other irons in the fire and a job with the local baseball minor league team working in the pressbox, but that's only seasonal and not a lot of pay.

I've received the dreaded "you're overqualified" lines many times. I've been out of work for months and I can't work here because I'm too smart? Well, I guess the saving grace there is that for the last two, the businesses, which were national across the United States, closed up shop entirely a few years later.

I stood in line from 6AM to 3PM to get in an interview, and was passed up through 2 additional interviewers. Both basically said "See you next month!" but the last guy turned me away.

It makes sense as well, because the first 2 were local interviewers and the last guy was from out of state.

And of course, my cousin gets the same guy right after me, and he dared to say "The guy before you was alright, but he just didnt want the job!"

Mean? Hell no! I've been in the same situation plenty of times! Only in my case, I usually don't even get the interview...

I had several interviews that started with "I can tell just by looking at you that you can't speak English." Needless to say they didn't go well.
