Talking General book recommendation

Hey there, ho there, children.

I come here to spread the word of an evil and depraved lunatic. A man who was rumoured to have fused together the wings of a fowl with the frame of a hound. A horrible demon, who turned a normal human child into a harpy. And his name was Spencer Black.

Theatrics aside, I'm actually here to recommend a book I recently bought. It's called "The Resurrectionist: The Lost Work and Writings of Dr. Spencer Black" and it's got some nifty and morbid TF elements woven into it

http://www.quirkbooks.com/TheResurrectionist

I actually only bought the book because it looked like a good source on anatomy for mythical creatures like centaurs and minotaurs. The artist and authur, E.B. Hudspeth, had taken some serious time researching the anatomy of animals other than humans to see how a hybrid species like mermaids or harpies could be designed if your focus was on anatomical correctness.

What I did not expect from the book though, was that the first half was a very intriguing, albeit not very well-written, gothic thriller about the fictional author, Spencer Black. A man that began a career as a medical prodigy but in the end fell prey to a macabre fascination with mutants and birth defects and their connection to his belief in a twisted take on evolution. That when a girl was born with two additional legs, it was actually her body attempting to remember a genetic purpose as a centaur.

Of note to Teefers out there, is that in the story of Dr. Black, he manages to master the art of surgery so well that although he is shunned by the medical and scientific circles, he is able to transform normal humans into mythical creatures. He grafts wings onto a young girl without arms and she lives a "normal" life. He does the same with a beagle and has to keep it chained, lest it would fly away. And he is rumoured to give you indefinite life or even change your sex.

This book kicks ass! And I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone interested in gothic body horror transformations, and to artists with an interest in seeing some really, really good anatomical references for mermaids, ganesha, centaurs, satyrs, minotaurs and harpies/angels to name a few.

[EDIT]Whoa! Those pics were huge. Fixed it though
Here's a link to a video on the book too by the by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6bBAvpzGbY
