Bite out on Digital HD

Couldn't find the original post, but Bite is out on digital HD (iTunes, Amazon, Vudu). Watched it, and it's pretty good. Not the greatest TF of all time, or anything, but it's something. I'll list the TF content below, but it's spoilery.

SPOILER:

Since the transformation takes place over the course of the entire movie, we don't really see the changes happening in real time. It's a stage by stage thing.

She grows a tail (we see it in a beginning stage, probably my favorite TF moment in the film and the most notable physical change)
She loses her hair (comes off in clump)
Lots of skin effects (gross out stuff)
Longer finger like tendrils (the other major physical change)
Green eye contacts
Lays a shit ton of eggs
Lots of gross stuff throughout, but she never changes from a basic human form.... So...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She also does a cool head twitch which I have to admit was a decent TF thing too for the mental side of things.

Would I recommend it? Maybe. Her reaction to the changes is probably the best part. It's like a watered down version of The Fly, and very gross. I'm not sure what else to say about it, but for a $7 rental I feel like I got something out of it.

So can you be more specific? Like what sort of "TF" content are we talkin about here, grow wings? Skin bursting? Do you get to actually see her final form? etc.

Re: Bite out on Digital HD

I should say that for me there is a perfect timing between a TF movie (like this) and a TF moment (like for example the werewolf in Cursed)... it is call "a TF scene", and it is something longer than 15 seconds but shorter than 15 minutes. Does it sound reasonable?
Anyway, thank you all for the links and comments.

I think I have to give it a prize for being one of the most relentlessly squicky horror movies I've seen in a while. Comparisons to "The Fly" are more or less correct. If you're into egg-laying then you might find this worthwhile.

Re: Bite out on Digital HD

Gave it a go. Not too impressed.

The actors are awful; everyone utters their lines as if it's their first read-through. Of course, the on-the-nose dialogue doesn't help them much, either. The special effects are nice and icky, but there's only so much you can DO with the gross-out factor before the viewer gets desensitized...and bored. They make a weak attempt at a soap opera-y love triangle to pad out the running time, but the damn subtexts are spelled out in such giant neon letters, it makes the director & scriptwriter come off as complete amateurs.

The recurring problem with these body horror flicks lies in their structure. Audiences ask "Why don't they just LEAVE?" while watching haunted house movies, and I kept asking "Why doesn't she go to the hospital?" Sometimes a reasonable explanation is offered, but often not.

Maybe it's just me who's expecting too much. Or maybe I've just seen too many horror movies. I found myself staring at the screen while my mind numbly connected the dots as the story progressed: "She does this, he does that, then she walks over there, then he says that..." It got to the point where I could practically predict the exact reaction an actor would make in a particular scene. This movie doesn't say anything that's already been said by dozens of similar films.

This had so much potential. So much.

Such a let down that what we got was a sub par episode of Outer Limits.

Re: Bite out on Digital HD

Here's what I would have done with the concept: All THREE girls would have been bitten by the same unknown creature. On the way back to civilization, they discover that Casey accidentally killed the man who attempted to rape her. Unfortunately, he was also the son of an influential local tycoon.

Fearful their story wouldn't be believed, while also getting increasingly sick from the mutations occurring inside their bodies, Casey and her friends hole up inside an abandoned house or shack to try and come up with a plan to sneak out of the country. The rest of the film would be an intimate character piece as each girl grapples with the crisis thrust upon her in a different way, as they slowly come to the tragic realization they'll never be going home.

I can't guarantee it would be a better version of the movie, but at least we'd get three mutating women instead of just one.

Is she an American?

Because that's why.
