Hello there,
Stopping by, and given the interesting circumstance as a certain cultural institution seems set to return with a new movie, I confess an interest in the new Blair Witch outing which draws close to premiering. In this particular light - and after some thought - would like to proffer a brief history of both the cultural legacy and of the Blair Witch herself. These musings - the media first and then the mythos - can be found here, on my blog - http://eldritchworks.blogspot.co.uk/...nd-horror.html . Not to everyone's taste, and perhaps a little lengthy, though hopefully informative to some who might like to familiarize themselves with the subject. Thanks again, Alchemical Night. |

Re: The Blair Witch - The History and The Horror
What I liked most about the whole Blair Witch project was how well the producers used very early viral marketing and strategically placed low cost advertising to create a ground swell around the movie.
Having a somewhat unique story and the whole "found-footage" approach necessitated by the extremely low budget forced them to create a movie that fit the whole package. So, part of it was skillful packaging, part of it was a fresh approach, and a decent chunk was very good timing... with a pinch of luck. |
