[Ninja In The Night]

This has already been posted on the Virtual Giantess in Video Games site, VGGTS, but I've been tweaking with Duke Nukem as of late, & have finally worked around the coding so that the old shrink gun instead of shrinking, causes the subject to actually grow! It would be an more streamy growth, but I have not yet found the Shrink Gun Timer in the coding yet. For those of you who have this old game, to make your subjects grow, open the Game File, there is actually a file in the folder. Before we tweak said game file, I recommend making a backup copy of just that file, as if you or I screw up along the line, it can cause errors in-game. Now, the first step is done, let's move on to the tweaking.

1 : Open the Game File in the Duke Nukem 3D Folder in Notepad, Wordpad, Or any document opening program.
2: Search for the Phrase "state genericshrunkcode"
3: Delete everything between that phrase & the word end just a few lines below it, this affects what target shrinks to & resizes to after being shot, it doesn't affect the count, nor does it affect any other part of gameplay. Make sure you do NOT delete the State Generic line or the End after it, or you will get an error. You should have the End Line directly below the State GenericShrunkCode line. This is the first part of the trick.
4: Now search for the line "ifaction FEMSHRUNK" & go down a few lines, until you see the words SizeTo in a sentance, shouldn't be more than 3 or 4 lines.
5: Change the current two numbers to anything, from 1 to 256 *This is an old game, anything larger will cause target to disappear after reaching said size".
6: Then save, & enter the game, type DNSTUFF in-game & aquire the shrink gun, you can also change the size of other units in-game, & modify them, but that's up to you.
7: Warning to those of you using the High Definition Version, this version isn't as unclear on boundaries as the normal version *You can tell what version you have by how good the graphics are, if they look very very very smooth, then your using the HD version. The HD Version causes units to expand wider instead of taller once they hit the cieling, so, in another way, it's not just GTS, SW, but it can also be Weight Gain! You can find women on level 2 to shoot, level 1 just has a very large movie screen. The shrink gun effect lasts about 10-15 seconds depending on your luck.

Spent a couple hours but I couldn't figure out any way to make this work with the shareware version. It seemed to accept changes to text in USER.CON but not in GAME.CON for me. Tried using the original DOS version and xDuke.
Anyway nice find; it sure brings back memories...

DN3D already has a grow gun (alt fire of shrink ray) but they grew to a point, then exploded....it was fun.

This edits the strength of that gun.

Actually, it edits what size the thing it shoots returns to, & by eliminating the Generic Shrink Line, it eliminates the shrinking code all things auto return to, so you can make all enemies tiny!

Heh, I remember that game! I also liked messing around with the shrink gun too. One thing I remember being able to do was making the various girls in the game invincible. I don't remember exactly HOW to do it, but either you froze them with the freeze gun and then tried to shrink them, or shrink and then freeze them without killing them. I remember the latter worked as long as you didn't go near them while they were frozen tiny, and then you would have tiny dancing girls that would always be alive while you killed other aliens. This would also make them stay small as well, for those interested. Never figured out how to make the grow gun work that way though, cause I never tried. I also tried to do that stuff with another person in multiplayer, but it ended up being rather messy.

Size change and freeze at the correct moment. You had to do it right, or they died.
