Question Possible TF Game [Idea Thread]

Another TF artist and I are planning on making a videogame involving TF. We have several ideas formed together but some things like the plot is missing. Well here is a quick idea of what has been thought out.

The gameplay will be something similar to Altered Beast. The heroine will transform based on a series of powerups (what exactly the powerups take form as or why she TFs is unknown). As a reference to Altered Beast she could transform into several forms. Such as werewolf, dragon, etc.

The game will most likely be modern day if not, a little futuristic or at least technology involved. The heroine will be a stern looking lady. Most likely military-like in a way. Think Leona in King of Fighters. The enemy she fights against is also unknown at this time. Aliens? Evil organization? How does she tie into all of this?

Anyhow, I am taking ideas and see what I can use. I hope we can make a game someday.

Re: Possible TF Game [Idea Thread]

Sounds good so far.

The first idea that popped into mind for me is very cliche and probably over done. It's about invading aliens, so where as the military gets involved to rid of it, thus your heroine appears. Pretty much your standard level progression of alien beat-'em-ups and boss battles for the end of each stage--very linear. But at least that's one idea.

I'll be sure to bring up any more ideas as I get them. Good luck on the project!

I was picturing an "escaped test subject" scenario: she was kidnapped by a shadowy government organization and experimented on. Also cliche, but it does double duty of explaining how she can change and giving her a goal: escape.

here is my idea ( more of column a and column b )

Your heroine was kidnapped and became a test subject for an evil organization
and while experimenting on her the lab that she was in explode ( or the evil organization trying to cover up their tracks ) she survive and discover she can Transform to many Animals , she vows revenge and start attacking all the evil organization bases she can locate , and from stage to stage she find about the next stage after she beat the information from the stage boss

Re: Possible TF Game [Idea Thread]

is this game going to be 3d or 2d? If it is going to be 3d I reccomend the source engine for trying stuff out, it is free, powerful, and very flexable for low end computers. For 2d I like gamemaker, another free and easy program. It can even support mutiplayer. If you need any info on either, pm me, though I use Source most of the time, it is just amazing.

Now for gameplay I would like something that has action to it. The power-up system stated before is a good idea. But I was thinking along the lines of form based puzzles, such as you need to be a monkey to scale the wall. Things like that. Also on another note, nudity would be a plus unless you plan to sell it. Same with sex. And if different forms have attacking skills, have them have diffrent styles, such as a wolf has quick speed and low attack, while a elephant has high attack but low speed, so people with diffrent tastes can enjoy the game. I have many more ideas, but I have to dash in 7 min.

Also I'm decently skilled in level making in the Source Engine. So if you do plan to make somthing 3d I can help in the level department. But I will help in anything else though.

That's sound interesting, if you planning to make another games, I recommend to do something cute like Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap

Re: Possible TF Game [Idea Thread]

The game will be 2d. Most likely be built with Multimedia Fusion 2. I do not plan on puzzles. Her beast forms are to be used for power but I imagine some beasts can open places that others cannot. Also perhaps she can choose which form to become after she has enough powerups.

But for the mostpart, I want to go with an old school feel. I like the idea of aliens, perhaps her power comes from borrowed alien technology in which she was given in an experiment. I am not sure if her human form will use guns like a run and gun sort of game or she will use melee attacks. I am also unsure if her form will change with each powerup until she has enough to change. In altered beast, the hero got more muscular. I am not sure if I want something similar.

Aliens, evil organizations, experiments, etc. They are cliche ideas, but they work best sometimes.

So the genre will be side scroller/run and gun/brawler for the mostpart. Because I do not want a "cute" main character she will be stern looking without being unattractive. The Major in Ghost in the Shell and Leona from King of Fighters are going to be some influences.

Re: Possible TF Game [Idea Thread]

If you want more of a postapocalyptic feel I have a suggestion.

Earth reached a utopian level of technology when total war broke out between humans and an unknown enemy. The result is a shattered Earth containing a patchwork of old tech still understood, such as steam engines and black powder, and strange archeotech that is equivalent of magic. A world cybernet exists layered over the real, but is filled with viruses and black ICE that can fry minds. Worse, in some areas the archeotech allows digital demons to manifest as real creatures and living beings to physically enter the cyberdomain.
In cobalt deserts a machine ecology thrives on sunlight and salvage, while the great reefs swarm with live evolving at amazing speeds due to terraforming agents running amok.
Many humans changed their bodies long ago in an attempt to escape their Ragnarok. Their ancestors now exist as hybrids of human and animal, but a select few breed true to their human stock. These "true born" are hated and feared, for they can control the vast powers of the world instinctively, but the power can easily drive them mad, and one small mistake or loss of control can bring about disaster.

In this world a young girl grows to womanhood sheltered at the roots of a once towering space elevator. Her tribe sacrificed itself to bring her there, in the hope that she could learn enough in that place to return the chaotic earth to the paradise it once was. Armed with that knowledge, she leaves her sanctuary to save the world.

Re: Possible TF Game [Idea Thread]

Since you are making a game, why not try to get some experienced help. Just recently an amateur game got released for RPG Maker XP named "World In Danger", a somewhat medicore game, good for an hour fun or so If you can get it to work properly.
Anyway, the game featured a few good animated TF sequences. One of a girl into a large lizard, and another of a woman into a robot. The sprite art looks equivalant of that of a real 2D game. You can see for youselves in the attachements.

The author of the game is always really helpfull towards people trying to make games, especially shooting games. I'm sure he will be able to help out if you ask him.
here is the website: http://coltgames.com
The author also appears to have a grudge against Pokemon for some reason, the other game featured on his site feature a full blown trilogy of Pokemon killing games. I think there are some Pok?mon TF's in it tough

That lizard TF actually looks really good. I think I will try this game just for that.

Re: Possible TF Game [Idea Thread]

I have had a bit of experience with MMF2 in the past. But I have a lot of experience with pixel art (see my avatar). l33tj0s, I wouldn't say that pixel art in that game is professional. I think they are alright, but could be much better.

Sorry I have not replied to many of your posts everyone, I am still reading them over thoroughly.

Re: Possible TF Game [Idea Thread]

There's nothing wrong with the cliches of evil governments or aliens; it's all in how you handle them. Look at what The Matrix: Revolutions did for the classic Man in Black.

Also it might be a good idea if you kept the playable character's transformations simpler so that they stayed close in model to each other (to make animation simpler) and left the large and complex transformations to end of level bosses (who are maybe female as well?) since they wouldn't need to be animated as much. Just tossing ideas out.
