I need help learning how to color stuff....
I dont know if this is the right place.. sorry.
Ok so... I was thinking of learning how to color digitally. As you can see.. I colored in my avatar recently... but I know I did it the wrong way. Does anyone know of a great tutorial or a site (that has easy to follow intructions preferably... im not that smart)? |

Flash is all you need really.
http://www.tutorialized.com/view/tut...-in-Flash/4655 It has all the tools you need, plus you can imitate some effects from photoshop. Plus vectors! Something that is quite useful when doing animations or editing specific parts of a picture.

One of the biggest basics to know about is that colors appear different when another color is applied next to them. That shade of red won't look the same when you add a bit of blue to it, or that fire just didn't look bright enough until you darkened the surroundings.
The best thing to start learning to do, is to NEVER have a white background unless that's what you aim for. White is such a horrid "color" to begin with and only fucks up your color perception. Unless you know what you're doing, don't use white as a background. This is not to tell you that white is bad, it's to tell you that the background color is what decides how your character colors will appear. |

Ah alright thanks for all the advice.
I used photoshop and the little knowledge I have of shading from high school art class a couple years ago. |
