I seem to recall that Luffy stated early in the manga that his ideal pirate crew would consist of ten members. I'm not sure how a giantess would fit on his ship, though- perhaps if she had shrinking-based Devil Fruit powers or something...

I always thought Chopper wasn't technically one of the ten members of Luffy's crew, or remember reading that somewhere. So wouldn't that only make it 7 or so?

And an Amazon would make a pretty interesting addition, but she probably won't end up joining them, I bet.

He counts as the ship's doctor- that's why Luffy specifically wanted him for the crew. The Navy, on the other hand, assumes that Chopper is simply the Straw Hat Pirates' pet/mascot. That might be what you're thinking about.
