This probably has been explained somewhere

I've been out of the loop for a while, and I just found out that Undead Robot's blog site is now a pay site, along with Expansion Mansion? When did that happen? Is the Process the only generally free BE site on the web now aside from Bearchive?

I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem paying for content. Bambi and Taylor have taken about as much out of my paychecks as the government, lol...but seriously, is this a recent thing or has it been like that for a while?

It has been explain before. For the most part it seems expansion mansion steals artwork and charges people to look at. Unless I'm mistaken.

If you're talking about the Expansion Comics site, I've been a member there and they've always had original stuff. When EM was free, I never remember seeing someone else's work there. But I just remembered it being free. I used to enjoy Undead Robot, but not enough to want to pay for it. I just didn't know it'd all gone pay is all.

Gamma Rai's work was on EM before it went to a pay site. Gamma Rai left her stuff free even when EM picked it up. Now they are having people pay of it. No one knows the details but I'm pretty sure that's theft.

Oh, I didn't know about that. I know CattyN pulled a bunch of her stuff off for unspecified reasons like a LOOOONG time ago. That does sound kind of sketchy, but I don't know the situation so I won't comment. Still, it's a shame. Our small community could easily be killed by greed before it really flourishes.

Oh and thanks, but I'm not gonna go to a pay site's backdoor or anything. Regardless of whether I approve of their practices, I'm not gonna shortchange them like that, either.

Yeah I never blew any of my money on any of Bambi's stuff and doing that just ruined her chance of ever getting any of it. You don't take previously free content and charge for it. You just don't.
What this needs is a backlash from the artists who are having their content exploited, and it can happen; just a few months ago Jebriodo and a bunch of my other FM artists found a site that was charging for their content. Complaints were raised, and it was taken down pretty quickly.

Not that I disagree, but I think the whole question here is whether any of the artists in EM didn't give Bambi their consent to form a paid archive of their works. If they did, then all a backlash does is cause another revenue stream to leave the community. If they didn't, better evidence is going to have to be presented than vague feelings of betrayal. A modern court of law isn't going to find in your favor if you say "you just don't do things like that"; and, yes, though I didn't make the argument, this was experienced through direct observation.

Yes, but is Bambi actually exploiting anyone here? If her house is in order, who are we to tell her that an artist that gave her consent shouldn't be in her archive? This needs some sort of proof, one way or the other, or this whole business can quickly turn ugly.

I don't like her choices but so long as her "house is in order," there is little we can do about besides go elsewhere. If she's doing it legit, then it's just something that I don't agree with but I'll move on.

There are plenty of other BE sites around that make content, free or paid, that we can go to if we feel this stuff is wrong. I buy stuff from her, and I buy stuff from Taylor, and I've bought stuff from Growth Dreams back when there was more BE only stuff on the site. It's just a shame we can't all work together because Bambi has the sexy part down, Taylor has the realism down, and GD has some great visual effects.

But anyway, I don't plan on starting crap with this thread. I don't like the EM being paid but without knowing further details I'm not gonna raise a stink about it. I was just unaware that it had become that way. Since I don't agree, I just won't go there. That doesn't mean I'll stop buying stuff from Bambi, I just won't go to that site. It's sad that these sites have become exclusive content only but it's the internet and I'll move on. Let's not start a war here about anyone.
