A discussion about tails in TF sequences
Hey, guys, I want to do a Tailmon(Gatomon) transformation sequence for my comic (one day) and I really like the tail growths, especially slow ones. Unforturnately a Tailmon's tail is about twice the length of it's body. Since I'm going to TF a girl into one, a slow tail growth of one is going to be pretty hard. The first time I tried to do it which was about a year ago, I ended up with about a full 9panel page of that, along with comments of how I made changes in the TF, which makes it pretty bad.
I need to redo this but, I was wondering how fast or part of the tail growth that I should show in each panel and should I get rid of the arms as I do this. I tried that with the Blaze the cat one but it turned out to be my worst page rather than "ok." Since it had 5 panels of that tail growth, I think that should be fine, but I want to do even more in the Tailmon one and try to go for 6 panels. Though, I wonder what limit of panels should a slow tail growth go. Can you give me your opinions about this? |

Re: A discussion about tails in TF sequences
Personnaly, I love the slow tail growth. What would be interesting is that her tail begin to appear in the beginning of the tf sequence and it continue to grow up to the end while the fur appear, she shrink, etc.

Re: A discussion about tails in TF sequences
For tailmon, I would say that Tancred's idea is the best since the tail is pretty bloody long, and would take a fair amount of panels as you have already experienced, but I think that in other cases, the limit on panels for a tail growth before it gets too dragged out is around 6-7.

Yeah, but unfortunately, I'm trying to do a part by part sequence in then the shrinking. ^^; I might do two versions of this though to try Tancred's idea. Anyway, so you're telling me to end the tail sequence at 6-7 or avoid going to those numbers?

I think the shrinkage should actually come first. But that's just me.

Re: A discussion about tails in TF sequences
For the tail, first start with something small, then it breaks the clothing, and then it goes to full length, you can do that with only 3 pics, but remember to add other parts tf so it doesn’t get boring.
Example: First pic, a small tail starts to grow under the pants Second pic: the tail grows longer, breaks the pants, and the girl grows Gatomon ears, or her human ears disappear and are replaced by gatomon ears. Third pic: The tails grows to full length, the girl hands turns into Gatomon paws. About the pic “changes” remember to start doing a sketch, then copy the first skeck in the second one, then add the changes needed and so on. Do it in pencil, with a light colour, and after that well, this aint no drawing class! |
