Real AR in our future?

Scientists Find Way to Regress Adult Cells to Embryonic State

Source: Washington Post

Thursday, September 25, 2008; 2:00 PM

Scientists are reporting today that they have overcome a major obstacle to using a promising alternative to embryonic stem cells, bolstering the prospects for bypassing the political and ethical tempest that has embroiled hopes for a new generation of medical treatments.

The researchers said they found a safe way to coax adult cells to regress into an embryonic state, alleviating what had been the most worrisome uncertainty about developing the cells into potential cures.

"We have removed a major roadblock for translating this into a clinical setting," said Konrad Hochedlinger, a Harvard University stem cell researcher whose research was published online today by the journal Science. "I think it's an important advance."

The development is the latest in the rapidly advancing and politically charged field of stem cell research.

hmm probably possible but still then i dont trust on science since is "human thing" and then comes in my mind "humans are not perfect" soh yeah even if it is possible sure will happen something bad to someone even with all tests and stuff it is never 100%

Certainly sounds like that its a technology that needs a little bit of work before they have it perfected. But maybe someday

Cell biology isn't my subject, but I don't think it works that way. You'd just have an adult with still growing cells, thus meaning they'd grow/mature more.

This is an unbelievably subjective point of view (warning, informed conjecture)possibly formed by watching far too many animes with that theme.(end informed conjecture. if you have any questions, feel free to ask.) So, please, learn some stuff about the real world and think it through again. I suggest a primer in philosophy. The book "Sophie's World" is good for beginners. "Neon Genesis Evangelion" is not.

It's like learning about the history of art from this

instead of this:

Broaden your horizons, dude.

Nothing against you or anything, I just want you to be as smart as you can, not as smart as you want to be.

Also, regressing individual cells to the embryonic state is 1000% different than anything approaching Age Reduction in any form. Sorry.

Yep. U don't want to be a human form consisting out of undifferenciated embrionic cells. That would mean, your heart, all internal organs, even the brain would become non- specialized cells. So, basically you could not live anymore. And we all want to live, don't we? ^^

Well, but who knows what will develop out of this..

I personally don't want to have eternal youth. Rather lead a normal life and die liek nature wants me to =)

If we are natural, then our brains are as well.
If our brains are as well, then so would be the manifestation of it, thought.
If our thinking is natural, then science is natural.
If science is a part of the natural world and it can provide a longer existence, though not ever necessarily one of eternal extent, what is there to fear?

Re: Real AR in our future?

I don't want to live for an incredibly long time because I would find life ridiculously boring. One of the problems I have with religion actually, I mean who would really want eternal life?

I suppose... I dunno I could do for living to three hundred without actually getting old but... meh.

WE COULD BECOME LIKE DWARVES! >.> <.<

Or Elves for you pretty boys out there >.> <.<

But they wouldn't go into decay mode.

We could just have mind erasers, so we can re-experience stuff again and again.
