True Blood
Anyone been watching this? Season two may have TF potential... Now no female tf uless you consider the girl to vampire one, but there is Sam Merlot the shape-shifter dog.
Acording to the book, this creature is a Maenad. There are also werewolves and i think a female werepanther in the book. In Greek mythology, Maenads were the female followers of Dionysus, Their name literally translates as "raving ones". Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication.[1] In this state, they would lose all self control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh. Re: True Blood
Yeah I've been watching the show but I haven't heard about him being the dog before. Pretty good series though, I would highly recommend it.

Re: True Blood
Yes, the series is based on a series of books. I read one of the books and can confirm that there are werewolves. The bar owner, iirc, is a member of the local pack, but it's been two years since I read that book so I could be wrong.

Re: True Blood
True Blood is a HBO series based on books of the same name, the basic idea is that Vampires "come out" to the public where a blood substitute called True Blood is created. The focus of the show is a small town where humans, vampires and other mythological creatures dwell and their dealings with one another.

Re: True Blood
True Blood is the name of the drink and the TV series.
The book series is the Sookie Stackhouse series (named for the main chacter). All the titles have the word 'dead' in them. There is a whole town of shapeshifters and their relatives in one of the books. I believe the 2nd. There are also witches/magic users. Vampires and witches are out to the world at large but not the shapeshifters. Sam , Sookie's boss is described as a large Collie not a wolf and the werewolves do not include him in their kind when they show up. A caution, these books are for adults (vamp blood is a drug and vamp sex seems to be addictive) and all have multiple murders/killings in them. I do recommend them , but be prepared. Charlaine Harris has written several other series all in the "Southern Gothic mystery" style (and IMHO, well worth reading) |

Re: True Blood
I've seen 2 episodes of the series, gotta burrow the DVD it was on, And season 1 did deal with vampire's blood's addictive properties, though the kidnapping of the Vampire character Bill Doetree(sp?) by two blood junkies.
Course Bill is a odd character as he is pretty much an alternate version of the character of the same name from King of the Hill, and yes I am serious, even if the author denies it!, and the actor who plays him is the same guy who plays the animated Bill. It's one of those strange cross over things, like how Characters on Buffy the Vampire Slayer watched the Soap Opera Passions and Passions Characters watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer. |
