I did NOT watch "Transformers" as a child.

I did NOT watch "Underdog" as a child.

I did NOT watch "Alvin the Chipmunks" or "Thunderbirds" as a child.

You know what I watched as a child?

GHOSTBUSTERS!

And now, I heard they are making a third movie.

Without any of the original cast.

With a new, younger team of Ghostbusters.

It's official: Hollywood has FINALLY found something I love and cherish from my childhood, and intends to destroy it.

Goodbye, fond childhood memories.

I've always accepted Hollywood as Hollywood and nothing more. They are good at making movies--not to say that they would be essentially good movies, but that's a personally relative notion. Franchises always fall under the trap of being remade, even for a new audience, new generation--that's how they make money, it's a business.

Ghostbusters always held a special part in by childhood and I feel your pain. However, I don't think I'll complain just yet--I'll rather be curious, and maybe check it out if was interested enough. I like to see revamps once in a while just to see how they handle it. I mean, personally, I thought Star Trek was very well done for a new movie. I think story-wise the Ghostbusters movie would be handled similar to the Extreme Ghostbusters series; at least, I think that would be the most logical and it gives a chance for cameos. And just to illustrate, I didn't like Extreme Ghostbusters because of how different it was from the original from when I was younger, but after watching a few episodes, I got into it and I liked how it was done overall. It was a great series as well as the original.

As much as it sucks that the original cast aren't going to be the team, I really can't see a bunch of old guys putting on the Proton Packs again. All I care about is having Ramis and Aykroyd write the story.

Ramis and Akroyd have been trying to make a new ghostbusters movie for the past 15 years. Most of their treatments have excluded the original cast as anything other than supporting roles. This has nothing to do with "hollywood meddling". This is what the original creators want to do.
